Rev. Christopher L. Zacharias Executive Director

Since April 1999, Reverend Zacharias has been the Senior Pastor of the John Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church in Washington, D.C.

He is also a program coordinator for the Leadership Council for Health Communities, a leader of the D.C. Poor People's Campaign, a Vice President of the Mayor's Council on Religious Affairs, and chaired the Faith Community of the D.C. Census 2020 Count.

In San Francisco, he was the NAACP's Third Vice President. He was on the Buchanan YMCA's Board of Directors. He was on the Executive Boards of Unity—Bridging the Gap between African Americans and Jews, Faith in Action.

He served on the Interfaith Council in San Francisco and Washington, DC.

A Pittsburgh native, Reverend Zacharias earned his Doctorate of Divinity from the United Theological Seminary, his Master of Divinity from the Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and his Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Wilkes University.

Reverend Zacharias is a proud father and grandfather married to his lovely wife and soulmate, Kim.

Natasha White, Director of Community Engagement

Natasha White is a formerly incarcerated survivor of solitary confinement who served fifteen years in the New York Prison System.

She played a key role in the Close Rikers Movement and participated in various decarceration efforts, including bail reform, fair and timely parole, and the Less is More Campaign.

Natasha was instrumental in the HALT SOLITARY campaign, achieving a historic win in March 2021, eliminating long-term solitary in New York State.

After relocating to Virginia, she became the Coordinator for the Virginia Coalition on Solitary Confinement, leading the Solitary No More VA campaign.

Natasha has worked tirelessly to engage legislators, community members, universities, and families directly impacted by long-term confinement and isolation, expanding the Coalition's reach.

As a result, in 2022, she received the Citizen of the Year Award from the National Association of Social Workers.

She serves as the Unlock the Box representative for Virginia and Maryland as of January 2023 and was appointed Director of Community Engagement at Interfaith Action for Human Rights.

She is also the CEO and Founder of Broken Crayons Can Still Color, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing trauma-informed care for women.
