Pen Pal Fall Meeting
Charnel Chaney is the featured speaker at our fall Pen Pal Meeting on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:30 p.m. at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec St NW, Washington, DC 20008.
Charnel was only 3 years old when her mom was incarcerated. “I was still yearning for a mother for a long time,” she said, “even now, as my daughter is 11 years old I find myself struggling with what do I talk to her about and how do I interact with her at that age because I didn’t have that.”
Charnel will speak about the challenges families face when a loved one goes off to prison. Charnel’s mother is a founder of the W.I.R.E. Women of the W.I.R.E. help support each other and offer counseling, transportation, and family reunification for newly released women offenders.
Following Charnel’s presentations, there will be time for Q & A as well as time to share experiences with your pen pals over the last six months.
